This Privacy Policy explains how Canadian Football Nation (“we,” “our”) collects, uses, shares, and safeguards information when you use elksnation.ca (the “Site”).
1. What We Collect
A) Information You Provide
- Contact & Comms: name, email, and message content when you subscribe, submit fan mail, comment, or contact us.
- Account Details (if applicable): username, profile info.
- Preferences & Polls: votes, survey responses.
B) Information Collected Automatically
- Usage & Device Data: IP address, browser type/version, device IDs, language, referrer/exit pages, pages viewed, time on page, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Cookies, Pixels, SDKs: We use cookies and similar technologies to remember settings, measure performance, and support interest-based advertising and social features. See Cookies & Ads below.
C) From Third Parties
- Analytics & Ad Platforms: Google Analytics; social platforms (e.g., Meta, X/Twitter, TikTok) for pixels/SDKs; ad networks/exchanges; affiliate platforms.
- Email Service: Mailchimp for subscription management and email delivery.
Legal bases/consent. Where required, we rely on your consent (e.g., marketing emails, non-essential cookies/ads) and our legitimate interests (e.g., security, service analytics). Under Canadian law, private-sector collection/use/disclosure in commercial activities is governed by PIPEDA.

- When you opt into our mailing list, we use Mailchimp to store subscriber data, send emails, and analyze performance (opens/clicks). You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in our emails to comply with CASL.
- Data Transfers: Mailchimp may process data in the United States and other countries and uses recognized transfer mechanisms (e.g., Data Privacy Framework/SCCs) to protect personal data.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share limited data with:
- Service providers/processors: hosting, security, analytics, email, customer service.
- Advertising/affiliate partners: to deliver, measure, cap, and improve ads (including interest-based ads) and track affiliate conversions.
- Social platforms: when you interact with embedded features/pixels (their use is governed by their policies).
- Corporate events: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to confidentiality and applicable law.
- Legal & safety: to comply with law or protect our rights/users/property.
6. Children & Teens
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Gambling-related content is intended only for adults consistent with local law. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact info@elksnation.ca for deletion.
7. International Transfers
We and our service providers may process data outside Canada (including the U.S.). Such data may be subject to local laws and lawful access by courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities. We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify information per our retention schedule.
